A water resources management project has been signed at the International Conference of Local Authorities in Ramallah (21-23 November 2014). The French Region PACA has launched the project with its counterpart, the Governorate of Hebron. Supported by PWA, the Ministry of Agriculture and the University of Hebron, the project will be implemented by UAWC (Union of Agricultural Work Committees). The project takes place on three agricultural sites located in the town of Dura (south of Hebron). It aims at building water tanks to collect rainwater and enlarge the basins to collect spring water in order to irrigate the crops during the dry season. Furthermore, the project involves training sessions for the farmers about a rational use of water (water harvesting techniques, water management and spring and irrigation systems maintenance). Mr Michel Vauzelle, president of PACA region has expressed his solidarity with the Palestinian people and the engagement of his region with the Governorate of Hebron in building a sustainable cooperation between France and Palestine. Mister Vauzelle’s visit to Palestine for the International Conference of Local Authorities was perceived by local politicians and diplomats as a strong commitment to Palestine and the Palestinians.
